Opening a blog in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world is not that complicated and expensive as most people have been made to believe.

I can say it boldly; with less than #2,300.00 you will get a blog with your own domain name. Yes with your domain name.  e.g lindaikejisblog.com, bchinvestment.com.ng, nairaland.com, etc.

I know the prices varies but for a starter, its better you go for a small plan then you can upgrade since there is nothing stopping you from having multiple blogs.

To start with, define your area of interest. It is the most important key to a successful sojourn in the blogging adventure or career.

Your interest determines your passion.  

Your interest could be news, information, health, social media, religion, books, traveling, adventure, etc.  

For me in this blog, I love guiding and mentoring people on making money.

After defining your area of interest in blogging,

 Then the game has just started.

Here are the steps to follow:

·        Decide on your domain name. e.g bch.com.ng, brainiacpublisher.com. healthyliving.com etc.

·        Choose a domain hosting company. ·        If your domain name is available, you can proceed to pay money and in less than 2 days your domain name and site is ready. I know of globalhosting247 takes maximum of 24hrs to propagate and your site is ready.

·        Then you can proceed to building your website.

HOW TO OPEN A FREE BLOG

A lot of youths want to be a blogger. Linda Ikeji has opened their eyes to opportunities in owning a blog and how blogging can make you into a millionaire. Isn’t that what the youth of today wants?

Today we shall be looking at the step by step way of opening a blog and making money from it.

You can own a blog in less than 20 minutes. And this is how.

Step One – Think of the domain name you will like to use. Ensure your domain name is not too long for search engine optimization (SEO).

Step Two – Choose your blogging platform.

Wordpress, Typepad, blogger, blogsmith. But for a new blogger, I will recommend Blogger. And I am going to use blogger for my example in this write up. My reason for choosing blogger is because its easier to manage for a not too techy person. It is straight forward. Wordpress is also user friendly. So in essesnce, I will recommend Blogspot for free domain and Wordpress for a personalized domain. I use both so I can tell you what works for me.

Step three - Go to your PC browser with a fast internet network. Use google chrome preferable. You can also do it on your Android phone. Go to www.blogspot.com

Step  Four – Click on create your own blog.  It will ask for your gmail. Enter your gmail address and password.

Step Five: As soon as you that, it will display

Type the title of your blog e.g Online Business Investment, Health and Wealth, Jumia etc.

Step Six: Fill in the domain name you decided upon. But note that whatever name you choose, it will automatically have a “.blogspot.com. Why? Because it’s a free domain.

After that

Step Seven: Choose a template that suites you. There are over hundred templates you can choose from. But don’t waist you time doing that. Choose any one . you can always change template any time.

Voila! you are done.  

It will take you to your dashboard where you can then continue with your settings and design.
